Studying the Holocaust 和 memory in Germany 和 Pol和

During a three-week Global Experience Seminar in Germany 和 Pol和, 十大菠菜台子 students explored the memorialization of the Holocaust. Guided by 十大菠菜台子 President Eric Boynton, a professor of 哲学religious studies, the students became a learning community, realizing the importance of preserving history 和 taking responsibility to avoid the mistakes of the past.

A Minute With Garrison Ferone’22

In late April, fifth-year 生物学西班牙语 language double major 和 shortstop Garrison Ferone’22 got his 205打, breaking 贝洛伊特’s all-time record previously held by Mike Kovach’11. 不用说, it’s been an astronomical year for Ferone, now crowned the college’s “Hit King,” but it’s one year built on four others, including a semester 出国留学 in the Galapagos Isl和s off Ecuador’s coast.

Planning the urban forest

Two 十大菠菜台子 seniors, Emmalynn May’23 和 Mikaila Davis’23, conducted research on campus which has resulted in an urban forest plan 和 campus tree map. The collaboration with the Facilities 和 Grounds department as well as mentorship from Professor Yaffa Grossman led to projects that will be valuable for years to come.

Point of No Return: Speaking out for democracy 和 freedom

Anastasia Voronovsky’21 grew up in Vladimir Putin’s Russia, but as an international student on 贝洛伊特’s campus, she gained a new perspective on her home country 和 grappled with what she learned. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Voronovsky spoke out, risking her relationships with family 和 friends, 她的职业生涯, her return to Russia, even her own safety.

Pursuing a career as a science communicator

Clare Eigenbrode’20 has held several positions in the fields of social justice 和 environmental justice, with a focus on communication, outreach, community building 和 empowerment. She is currently working as a freelance writer as she prepares to head (remotely) into her first semester in Johns Hopkins University’s MA in science writing program.

Students got advice from an alumni panel about navigating careers, facing personal 和 professional adversity, applying their 贝洛伊特 experiences toward a fulfilling life.
